Frequently Asked Questions
What size HiK9 bed do I need?
Here’s a rough guide to help you choose the right size for your dog.
Please note this is only an estimate — every breed (and every dog!) can vary in size.
Extra Small - Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Pomeranian, Miniature Dachshund, Toy Poodle, Cats & Rabbits
Small - Shih Tzu, Pug, Jack Russell, West Highland Terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bichon Frisé, Dachshund
Medium - Whippet, Springer Spaniel, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Beagle, Schnauzer
Large - Labrador Retriever, Boxer, Rottweiler, Husky, Doberman, Dalmatian
Extra Large - Great Dane, German Shepherd, St Bernard, Rottweiler, Bullmastiff, Greyhound

Is the HiK9 bed indestructible?
No bed is completely indestructible — some dogs will always try their luck!
That said, HiK9 beds are extremely tough and long-lasting, and we often hear from customers that ours is “the first bed my dog hasn’t eaten!”
If your dog does manage a nibble, don’t worry — we sell replacement covers, and can even make chew guards to order.

Will my dog like it?
We’ve never met a dog that doesn’t!
Most dogs take to their HiK9 bed straight away — sometimes a little encouragement helps, but once they’re on, they’re hooked.
In the wild, dogs naturally prefer to sleep raised off the ground, away from cold, damp areas where parasites breed. Our raised design mimics that instinct perfectly.
Can I leave my HiK9 bed outside?
Yes — all HiK9 frames are rust-proofed and powder-coated, making them suitable for use outdoors in any weather.
If your bed will be kept outside all year round, we recommend choosing our stainless steel frame for maximum durability.
We recommend using a mesh cover, which allows rainwater to drain through, and adding heavy-duty feet for extra protection if the bed will be on hard or uneven ground.
What if my dog digs?
If your dog loves to dig, we suggest adding one of our Cosy Sleeves.
These are made from thick veterinary bedding that adds comfort and helps protect the cover underneath.
Please note: while these accessories help extend the life of your bed, we can’t guarantee any product against dog damage.
How long will a cover last? Can I buy a replacement?
Yes — covers are fully replaceable.
Most customers find their cover lasts several years, though we expect a minimum lifespan of around 12 months under normal use.
You can order replacement covers directly from our website whenever you need one.
Can I make bunk beds from any HiK9 size?
Not all sizes are compatible with our leg extensions.
Small, Medium, and Large frames can be made into bunk beds using our extensions.
XL, XXL and H beds use thicker steel tubing, so the extensions will not fit.
Any size bed can be used as the bottom bunk.
How can I tell what size HiK9 bed I have?
An easy way to check is to measure the shortest side (the width) of your bed — from the outside edge of the metal frame to the other.

Are colours and accessories always the same?
We like to keep up with new styles and trends, so colours and fabrics may change from time to time.
If an item is restocked, the shade may vary slightly from previous batches — but we always do our best to keep them as close as possible.
Will I be charged customs or import duties?
If you live in the EU or Ireland and order from a UK retailer, your order may be subject to local tax and duty fees.
We charge your local tax rate on your order upfront. If a courier later contacts you for further payment, please pay it and contact us with proof of payment if you have been charged tax twice — we will refund any tax you’ve paid directly to us.
When customs duties or taxes are due, you (as the recipient) are responsible for paying them unless already paid to us.
These charges differ by country, so please check with your local customs office before ordering.
By law, all items must be declared at their full price. We cannot reduce customs values to lower import fees.
If you refuse a delivery, you will still be responsible for any customs fees, return costs, and handling charges.
In these cases, refunds will be issued minus a £45 return fee.
If a parcel is refused, we cannot accept liability for any loss or damage during its return transit.
